Make a difference, change a life with your paper bead purchase. All profits from beads sales go to our Ugandan women beaders and to projects and programs in the communities where our beader groups are located which we believe will have the most impact on helping the communities and beader group members overcome poverty. Most of our U.S. labor is volunteer. This is not a handout. It is a hand up which allows our beaders to build their own sustainable businesses that they can do in Uganda to support themselves and their families.
Outreach Uganda’s Women’s Home Ownership program offers qualifying women in their Jinja women’s group the opportunity to become homeowners. Many of these women who are widows, live in one room rented houses in the dangerous slums of Jinja. Some women are very elderly and others are HIV positive.
The Agwata School is a northern Uganda school serving students from Nursery level through P-7 which is 6th grade. The school is a parent supported primary school. As part of its community empowerment programs, Outreach Uganda partners with the entire Agwata community to help students learn in this parish of five villages with over 6000 people.
Because the next nearest clinic in Lamwo was over 17 kilometers away, our Agwata women’s group desperately wanted a clinic in their own community. 17 kilometers is a very far distance especially during rainy season when roads and paths are very muddy and impassable. Outreach Uganda helped their dream become a reality in June 2013 when the Agwata community clinic opened its doors. This northern Uganda clinic in Lamwo district serves over 6,000 people in the surrounding parish of five villages.
