Abalo lives with her mother, 3 siblings, and 2 children her mother adopted from the mothers deceased sister. They live in
Kitgum.
Abalo’s father died in a traffic accident. They live in a hut donated by friends. Abalo’s mother grows some produce and makes and sells charcoal for a living. She also makes beads for extra income. She worries about school fees, and would like some capital to start up a business. They no longer get food assistance from NGO’s since leaving the IDP camp. Abalo’s mother would like some capital (small) to start up a business.
Abalo did well in school last term, and her favorite subject was English. She’d like to be an inspector when she grows up. Abalo likes to play netball with her friends at school. She helps her mother by fetching water and cleaning dishes.
Annual sponsorship cost is $120 for primary school fees, uniforms, basic school supplies and supplemental food. The sponsorship amount can be paid annually, or by term at $40 per term. Additional optional amounts up to $300 total may be contributed during the calendar year as a special family gift.
