Adong Mercy
Age – 8 Grade–Primary 4 (Day)
|
Mercy lives in Kitgum with her mother, two siblings and two adopted children from her mother’s deceased sister. The father is no longer living with the family.
Mercy’s mother was abducted and tortured at an earlier time in the war with the
LRA. To this day both she and her arm are still somewhat disabled. Besides doing beading, her mother also makes a sorghum brew. Her mother hopes to one day get enough money so that she can build her own hut (cost about $150).
Mercy says her school studies this past year went well. Her best subject is English. She loves playing netball and also skipping rope. She helps her mother around the house and also cleans the dishes. She would like to be a teacher when she grows up.
Mercy’s mother would like to tell Mercy’s future sponsor how grateful she would be to receive help with school fees and other educational requirements.
Annual sponsorship cost is $120 for primary school fees, uniforms, books, supplies and supplemental food. The sponsorship amount may be paid in one lump sum, by term at $40 per term, or monthly via credit card at $10 per month. Additional optional amounts up to $300 total may be contributed during the calendar year as a special family gift.
