Susan lives in Gangdyang with her mother, 6 orphans and 4 siblings. They moved from Agoro 11 years ago to escape rebel activity.
Susan’s mother grows food to support her family. She grows sweet potatoes and she is one of the
beaders. She also has acted for charity as midwife, helping 9 women who could not reach the hospital. Susan helps her mother with the cleaning, cooking, and collecting water.
Susan is an excellent student. She was 4th out of a class of 100 students. She has had to stay home from school due to lack of school fees. Susan wants to be a nurse because she’s seen how nurses help the sick. She likes to play ded (a popular children’s game) and netball.
The family has a problem of getting clothing and food supplements.
Annual sponsorship cost is $120 for primary school fees, uniforms, basic school supplies and supplemental food. The sponsorship amount can be paid annually, or by term at $40 per term. Additional optional amounts up to $300 total may be contributed during the calendar year as a special family gift.
