Sara lives with her mother, 2 younger siblings, and 3 cousins in the Danida area of Jinga. Her mother works in a factory 8 hours every night so she can earn about 80 cents per day. Her mother sometimes rolls the paper beads for others to earn additional income. Her husband was shot to death a while ago.

Sara helps her mother by washing clothes, preparing food, sweeping the compound, and running errands for neighbors who trust her.

Sara very much enjoys school. Math and English are her favorite subjects. She is normally in the upper 15% of her class. She would like to be a doctor when she grows up so she can help people. She also likes singing. She went to a music festival and sang there too. Her mother says she is an obedient student.

Annual sponsorship cost is $125 for primary school fees, uniforms, and basic school supplies. The sponsorship amount can be paid annually or by term at $42 per term. Additional optional amounts up to $300 total may be contributed during the calendar year as a special family gift.
