Emmanuel Ayella
Age – 14 Grade–Secondary 1 (Day)

Emmanuel lives with his mother, six other siblings, and four orphaned children of his uncle who was killed by the rebels. His father died of malaria and his mother has lost a leg when she encountered a land mine. One of the children has epilepsy.

The family came to the Kitgum area ten years ago because of the war. Their original village was 14 miles away.

Emmanuel’s favorite subject in school is science. He wants to be a driver. He likes to read and play soccer. He helps the family by fetching water and washing dishes. He is very obedient and helpful according to his mother.

Two older children, ages 16 and 20, who dropped out of school due to lack of school fees, now make bricks and sell for some household income. Nine children are currently in school, but the family is unable to afford secondary school fees and has little income to spare for anything.

Your sponsorship of Emmanuel will help him continue to attend school. If no sponsor is found, then it is unlikely that he will be able to continue in school since secondary school is so much more expensive than primary school.
