Emmanuel lives with his mother, a twin brother and another older brother. His father died unexpectedly of illness a couple of years ago. The family came to Jinja over 20 years ago from Kitgum in northern Uganda because of the war. .
Her mother earns a small income by selling beads and by selling groceries from a kiosk that her husband built for her before his death. She hopes for more bead sales so that she can use funds to increase the amount of inventory for sale at her kiosk. Emmanuel helps his family by cooking and washing clothes.
Emmanuel is an average student in school. He likes physics, biology, geography and history. He wants to be a businessman. He sometimes misses school for as long as a week due to lack of school fees. He likes to play golf and tennis (for free) at a nearby golf course where his father worked before his death.
Annual sponsorship cost is $400 for secondary school fees, uniforms, and basic school supplies. The sponsorship amount can be paid annually, by term at $134 per term, or monthly via credit card at $33 per month. Additional optional amounts up to $300 total may be contributed during the calendar year as a special family gift.
