Ivan lives with his mother, father, six siblings and 4 other dependents. The family rents two rooms in the Walukuba area of
Jinja.
Ivan’s father is not currently working. His mother rents a small garden and grows
beas, small potatoes and cassava. She also makes beads and does distilling to earn an income for the family.
His family originally came to Jinja from northern Uganda over twenty years ago. Ivan helps his mother by washing dishes and sweeping.
Ivan enjoys school and is normally in the upper 10% of his class. His favorite subjects in school are English and science. He wants to be a doctor some day because he likes helping people. He enjoys reading and playing soccer with his friends.
Annual sponsorship cost is $125 for primary school fees, uniforms, and basic school supplies. This amount can be paid annually or by term at $42 per term. Additional optional amounts up to $300 total may be contributed during the calendar year as a special family gift.
