Jane Kyomukama lives in Jinja, Uganda and lives in a rented home with her mother, six brothers and sisters, and two other dependents.
Her mother earns some income by tailoring and bead-making. Jane helps her mother at home by cleaning and by digging in the gardens.
Jane attends a local public school in Jinja where she is in the middle of her class based on her grades. Her favorite subjects are social studies and science. She wants to be a teacher when she is older.
Her biggest need right now is for school fees so that she can attend classes regularly and hopefully improve her grades.
Annual sponsorship cost is $150 for primary school fees, uniforms and supplies. This amount can be paid annually, or by term at $50 per term. Her school fees will increase by approximately $500 (in 2011) when she begins attending a secondary school (secondary school fees can also be paid monthly). Additional optional amounts up to $300 total may be contributed during the calendar year as a special family gift.
