Rose lives with her mother, 7 other siblings plus 4 other dependents in
Jinja. She is the last-born child.
The family came here 20 years ago from Kitgum in northern Uganda because of the war. Her father is dead. Rose’s mother earns income for the family used to sell charcoal from the island and to distill to earn a small income. She now does beading too. Rose helps the family by washing clothing and ironing.
Rose loves school and is normally in the top 10% of her class. She especially enjoys social studies and science. Her mother says, “She is always in books.” Rose is quiet. She sings in the church choir and loves to read in her spare time.
Annual sponsorship cost is $150 for primary school fees, uniforms, and basic school supplies. The sponsorship amount can be paid annually, or by term at $50 per term. Additional optional amounts up to $300 total may be contributed during the calendar year as a special family gift.
