Sande Atimango now lives with her grandmother in a small rented room in
Jinja. Her grandmother just brought her from the village (Kitgum) in northern Uganda in 2007.
Sande’s father just died in June 2008 so both of her parents are now dead. Her grandmother has no children still living. Sande helps her grandmother by cooking and cleaning.
Sande has not yet started school, but is looking forward to entering the first grade in February if a sponsor is found for her.
Her grandmother has ulcers and lacks income. She is trying to start a business of selling posho but has no capital for this. She is also starting to make bead necklaces.
Annual sponsorship cost is $125 for primary school fees, uniforms, and supplies. The sponsorship amount can be paid annually or by term at $42 per term. Additional optional amounts up to $300 total may be contributed during the calendar year as a special family gift.
